Adaptive Explorers is a one-hour, semi-structured gymnastics class for children with sensory or other support needs. Class is a sensory-rich and safe environment for exploring movement and body awareness skills. After a short group warm-up, your child will have the opportunity to explore the gym with your support. Equipment available includes obstacle courses, a trampoline, foam pit, balance beams, and bars. Class will conclude with a group cool-down activity.


Adaptive Explorer details:

  • For ages 4 to 18 years old with diagnoses or disability requiring some support or adaptation
  • Adult accompaniment required
  • $20 for first child, $15 per sibling

  • All participants, including adults, must have a current consent form on file
  • An annual membership fee is not required to attend
  • The dress code for children is a leotard or fitted shirt (no bare midriffs) and athletic shorts, bare feet, hair pulled out of the face, no jewelry, and clothing free of zippers, snaps, and hoods
  • Adults may wear socks in the gym
  • This is a special time for children with a disability, typically developing siblings are not allowed to participate.

The gym will be quieter and less busy at the time of this class, but it can be loud and echoey in the gym. There are many colors and textures throughout the gym. There will be a higher activity level in the gym, but if your child needs a break, you can walk down the quieter hallways or take a break in one of our side rooms.
